PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce a significant addition to their Hockey Operations department. Jason McKee has been added as an Assistant Coach on Fred Harbinson’s staff ahead of the 2024-25 season.

“I look forward to having Jason join our staff. I have had an opportunity to coach against his teams for many years and they were always well prepared and structured,” commented Vees’ President, General Manager, and Head Coach Fred Harbinson.

McKee joins the Vees after spending the past four seasons as the General Manager and Head Coach of the Vernon Vipers. McKee’s extensive coaching resume includes two years as the Head Coach of the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League, and 10 seasons with the Spruce Grove Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. McKee spent four seasons (2006-2010) as an Assistant Coach, before being promoted to the General Manager & Head Coach of the Saints in the 2010-11 season. McKee guided the Saints to four AJHL championships, three as the general manager and head coach.

“I look forward to the opportunity to work with a first class organization and to be a part of this great community,” began McKee. “My day-to-day responsibilities might look a little different than years past, but I’m excited to spend time focusing on developing our players and our group as a whole.”

The Vees are happy to welcome Jason and his family to Penticton and the South Okanagan.

The Vees open their 2024 BCHL Exhibition schedule on Friday, September 6th, against the Trail Smoke Eaters at Cominco Arena. Penticton hosts the Vernon Vipers at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday, September 7th; puck drop is 6:00 pm.
