Penticton, BC – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club have signed defenceman Cédricson Okitundu (’04) to the active roster, the team announced on Wednesday.
“With Matthew Biotti and Michael Fisher both expected to miss extended periods of time due to injuries, it became very important for us to add a veteran defenceman,” started Vees’ President, General Manager, and Head Coach Fred Harbinson. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to bring in Cédricson who has played over 150 games in the OHL. His experience in junior hockey will give us the balance on our backend that is needed to be successful.”
The 20-year-old Okitundu comes to Penticton with plenty of junior hockey experience, having played 145 career regular season games in the Canadian Hockey League and an additional 16 playoff games. Okitundu played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Owen Sound Attack, Guelph Storm, and Brantford Bulldogs. In three seasons in the OHL, the 6’0, 203 pound defenceman compiled 12 goals and 24 points. The Ottawa, Ontario, product also played four games with the Prince Albert Raiders at the start of this season.
Okitundu will wear number seven and make his Vees debut Friday, when the team travels to Trail to take on the Smoke Eaters at Cominco Arena
